License To Carry
The classes we offer teach you to be safe and confident. We offer classes all across the state with offices in the Houston and Austin metro areas and have made arrangements with several local ranges to conduct the shooting proficiency examinations. All our classes are conducted in accordance with the Texas DPS mandated requirements. The classroom portion is between 4 and 6 hours of instruction and the shooting proficiency test depends on your shooting skills.
What You Need
- Valid driver license or identification card,
- Current demographic, address, contact, and employment information,
- Residential and employment information for the last five years (new users only),
- Information regarding any psychiatric, drug, alcohol, or criminal history,
- Valid email address, and
- Valid credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, or American Express)
- ALL FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE
Fingerprinting is by appointment only and is done electronically at several places throughout the Houston and surrounding areas. The DPS will set you up for fingerprinting during the application process.
Course Fees
- Texas DPS License fee* -$40.00
- Fingerprinting fee – $10.00
- Range fee, varies by range – $20.00 – $25.00
Additional fees:
- Class Course fees including classroom and range proficiency exam – $99.00
- Online class and exam – $60.00
- Shooting proficiency only – $60.00
- Firearm rental, including ammunition – $30.00
- Private class – $300.00
